History

The IEEE Romania Section was founded in July 1990 within a meeting held in the Aula of the Romanian Academy. The founders were professors and researchers from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest (currently named University Politehnica of Bucharest), from ICCE Băneasa, and from ICPE. At this meeting, Acad. Mihai Drăgănescu was elected Chair and Prof. Marcel Profirescu and Prof. Andrei Silard were elected Vice-Chairs, all professors at Faculty of Electronics from Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest.

  • 2018 – 2020:  Cristian Negrescu
  • 2021 –        :  Lucian Toma

In 2015, the Romania Section celebrated the 25th anniversary. On this occasion, a brochure providing the most important information about IEEE and IEEE Romania Section was created. You can download this brochure from this LINK.
